Come to a FREE workout this Sunday. No need to RSVP; just show up to run or walk.
Have you ever considered running a half marathon?
Are you running 5Ks and 10Ks now and want to tackle the next challenge?
Are you just getting into long-distance running and want something to aim for?
Check out the AHA/ASA Start Training Program!
Start Training is a 14-week program to train you to run or walk a half-marathon, specifically the American River Parkway Half Marathon. We have Track Workouts on Wednesdays, Staff Workouts on Fridays and Distance Workouts on Sundays. We just started; We currently run or walk 3 miles.
If you would like to try out Start Training, just come to this free workout.
Start Training helps fundraise for the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association, two of America's largest medical charities. All donations are tax-deductible.
The Fundraising Minimum is a modest $500. There is a $100 registration fee, but it counts toward your Minimum. You will be given your own personal Donation Webpage to help you fundraise and to facilitate online donations using credit cards.
The total Minimum is just $500, which needs to be raised by April 23rd. This is entirely do-able. There a few individuals who have already met the Minimum.
The goal event is the American River Parkway in Sacramento on 5/1/2010. It is a fast, flat & scenic course along the Sacramento River. Some would say that means a PR-able course that isn't boring. :) There are separate courses for runners and walkers. Race entry is separate, but it's only $40 until 3/31/2010, making it the cheapest half-marathon in California.
